RECITALS

At least once a year, students will have the opportunity to sign up for a recital where they can perform for family and friends. We hold the recitals at a local, live-music club where students get to perform on a real stage and play any song they like – in any style of music. (We’ve heard everything from classical piano, to a rock n’ roll version of the “Mickey Mouse” song, to Metallica.) Students get to perform solo, with a band of their peers, or with their teachers. It’s really the most fun day of the year for everyone, and we encourage all that feel comfortable to do so, to perform. Last year’s spring recital was held at MOMO’S in downtown Austin. UPDATE!!!

We’re very excited to announce our second annual spring recital! It’ll be in the afternoon on Saturday, May 19th at STUBB’S from Noon until 4:00pm. Stubb’s is easily one of the coolest music venues in Austin and I know everyone will absolutely love playing there. Every student that signs up will get to perform a song on stage through a professional sound system in front of their friends and family.

Students will perform with their teachers and/or with other students. This can be as simple as playing a duo with just their teacher, or with a full band of other students. We will all be happy to help support the students in any way we can. Would you like a drummer (Pedro or Owen) to sit in with you? Sure! Or would you like someone to sing with you while you play guitar? Steve (that’s me – the owner and voice teacher) would be happy to do so if I can sing it! Or would you prefer the teachers just sit and watch while you play solo or with other students? Anything is cool. The idea is to get students up on stage so they can experience the joy of performing to a live audience.

The total cost of signing up is only $35.00 per student. This includes:

- FREE cover charge for as many friends or family you’d like to bring
- A professional sound man to set up mics and mix the sound for every performer
- Full backline (This means mics, drums, bass amp, guitar amp, and a keyboard will be supplied so students only need to bring their guitars, basses and drumsticks)
- All teachers will be there to help the kids set up, perform, and provide moral support

If you’re uncertain if you or your child will be prepared enough to perform please talk to your teacher directly for feedback. You are more than welcome to call me at the school anytime as well with any questions.

***Please make sure to sign up as soon as possible. Space will be limited.*** You may pay with your credit card on file or simply give a check to your teacher made out to “STRUM.” ***There are no refunds on payments made for the spring recital.***
