Jon Simpson:
GUITAR (Rock, Blues, Jazz, Flamenco...)

In the beginning, listening to music was a different dimension for me. It caught my imagination and made me realize how wonderful this language was compared to the rest. I received my first guitar at age 7, but at the time I enjoyed playing drums the most. A life changing moment for me occurred at age 12 after watching a video of Stevie Ray Vaughan. I was engrossed in studying primarily blues for the next five years. At that point, my tastes began to expand and I found myself listening to a lot of virtuoso guitarists. I had the attitude that I would play guitar from sunrise to sunset as there was nothing else I wanted to do with my life.

I studied music theory at Austin Community College and currently am in the jazz program at Texas State University. I love all types of music including Metal, Classical, Film Scores, Rock, Flamenco, Blues, Techno and more. I aim to take students down a path that will allow them to reach their greatest goals. I want to show them that music is an endless beautiful universe of art that will give to them just as much as they give to it.
