Personalized Music Instruction in Austin, TX

Music is a deeply personal experience for many people. Moreover, each student has different tastes, interests, and abilities. Strum Music School realizes that each student is unique and we work to enhance their inherent musical abilities by offering personalized music instruction. Before each student begins lessons, we take the time to get to know their interests, aims, and needs to help them decide on a course of study. We assign teachers only after getting to know a little about the student, as we believe the right teacher can help make a big difference in achieving your goals. And when it comes to teaching children, we ensure that our teachers are both fun and inspiring. This is because we believe, “A teacher who is attempting to teach without inspiring the pupil with a desire to learn is hammering cold iron.”

Our personalized music lessons are designed to encourage students – both adults and children – by giving them undivided attention, the space to learn without unnecessary pressure, and the promise of lessons proceeding at each student’s own pace. By providing individual attention, we make sure that our music lessons are interesting and fun. By allowing children and adults to learn individually and privately, we take the stress out of learning, making it easier for students to feel comfortable making mistakes and to experiment without judgment. Our personalized music lessons in Austin are aimed at helping you unwind and relax as you learn to make music and continually gain confidence in your playing.

Choice Is A Good Thing

Strum Music School offers all students a choice of six instruments to study, as well as singing lessons. Whether you want to learn how to play the drums, bass, guitar, piano, ukulele, or improve your singing abilities, our music classes in Austin are designed to make it easy and fun for you. All of our musical equipment is modern, well maintained, and selected because it’s simple to handle and operate. Our electric pianos offer built-in piano, organ, and string sound options, while at the same time providing the feel of a real acoustic piano. Our modern electric guitar amps sound great and have channel switching abilities along with several built-in effects. This ensures that you can recreate almost any guitar sound from your favorite music type – rock, blues, pop, country, indie, jazz, metal, or alternative.

Testimonials

  • Harold is as you've described, very gifted and also interested in many different kinds of music which is perfect because I am too.  I think I will have a lot of fun learning from him.
    Sophia M.
  • Lexie had a BLAST today! She loved her voice lesson and can’t wait to come back next week! Thank you so much and I really appreciate you letting us “give it a try” before committing. Lexie’s been with her current voice teacher for a while and I felt that we needed to discuss everything after the lesson today before jumping in to a decision. I’m glad she enjoyed her lesson so much...

  • I’ve been taking guitar lessons from strum since the school started. everyone is always very professional, patient, and kind. The rooms are super clean and modern, which is not common in other schools I’ve been to. I can’t express how much I appreciate this place and enjoy my lessons every week! My guitar skills have improved light years, and I play downtown every weekend now. Strum will ROCK you! :)

  • Most of my lessons at Strum have been with Steve but I have taken several lessons with some of the other teachers at Strum and was very impressed with the level of instruction I received. Steve has very high standards and it shows in his school.

  • Just a quick note to say a huge “THANK YOU” for the fabulous recital yesterday at MOMO’s. It looked like all of the students had a great time performing and as a parent we were thrilled to have the opportunity to watch the kids on stage! I know it must have taken a TON of effort on your part as well as the other music teachers and I just wanted you to know how much we all enjoyed it!! Thanks again for all you do!
    Tannie
  • Can’t thank you enough….for ALL the effort and time that went into today’s concert at Momo’s. David had a blast performing, as did all the kids. THANK YOU! Michael and I look forward to another year with STRUM and to our next live music concert!
    Julia
  • I’ve been having a lot of fun taking lessons from Max. I had about a dozen music teachers in my life and some left profound imprints on me, but no teachers have done what Max did for me. He has inspired me to leave music sheets aside and actually listen to the sound come from within me and play music.
    Sophia
  • As a former teacher and current graduate student in education, I am always looking out for best practices in any educational setting. Steve Glazer knows just how to take what he knows and provide knowledge transfer in a way that is easy, fun and effective. If you want to learn to play the guitar, Strum will show you the way!

  • Thank you for the great recital that you put together. My friends and family REALLY enjoyed it from the choice of the location down to, of course, the quality of the performances. What a treat! Stephane did great and was really happy to perform. That’s the kind of experiences needed to keep the kids motivated and hooked, hopefully forever!
